MARIAN SMITH                                                                                                                                                              

Marian graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Psychology, attaining APRHA registration as a Psychologist and later full membership of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS).  Marian has been a Director of The Barra Group for more than 20 years and is a lifelong learner with an ongoing interest in the workplace of the digital age.

As Recruitment evolved and the demands of the changing 21st Century workplace grew, the reach of The Barra Group widened to include targeted Executive Search in Cyber Security, compassionate Executive Outplacement Career Transition services for employers after restructuring and Professional Career Development workshops for Emotional Intelligence, Leadership and Resilience Skills Training together with workshops to assist HR and Hiring Managers secure the right people and reduce the time to hire. 

Marian is curious by nature and a life long learner.   She has experience across a variety of industries in both the public and private sectors, having worked with employees at all levels, from entry level, to mid-level and senior management and executive positions. 

GWEN DURHAM                                                                                                                                                            

A Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors, Gwen has gained an outstanding reputation as an Expert in the provision of Career Development, Outplacement, Change Management, Coaching, Leadership and Team Development to both the public and private sectors.

A creative and original thinker she has a strong ability to understand a client's real needs and translate them into the delivery of novel and accessible outcomes.

Gwen’s success has seen her support Service Managers and Employees across multiple industries as they work through the complexity of change and re-engage their energies.

She has designed, developed and implemented innovative Programs that enable individuals to identify new roles that align their competencies with current organizational needs, or provide them with motivation to transition to new opportunities outside of their host organization.

 Gwen has been a Director in a successful Career Transition business in Sydney servicing a four-year contract for Department of Transport NSW.  A small sample of her experience includes:

  • International restructuring within IBM Global Services in their Canberra and Singapore offices
  • HR Consulting and Career Transition services to staff affected by the privatisation of Queensland Rail National
  • As Co-Owner and Director of INS Career Management assisted in developing the strategy for the successful transitioning of over 1,000 staff from the Department of Transport for NSW in an environment of no forced redundancies.
